The Disabilities Board of Charleston County (DBCC), SC is recruiting an Executive Director to manage an agency with an $18 million annual budget and staff of 500+ in multiple locations. The position reports to a 17 member Board of Directors appointed by the Governor.
Primary responsibilities are strategic planning, and managing a system of community-based occupational and residential services for persons with mental retardation, head and spinal cord injuries, and related disabilities, to include oversight of financial affairs, direct supervision of the senior management team, development of performance goals, management of the day-to-day activities of the Disabilities Foundation of Charleston County, and representing Agency interests with the State Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) and elected officials.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in human services or management field and combined education/experience that includes significant progressive experience to include managing the financial, human, and physical resources in a developmental disabilities environment, and a career history that involves strategic planning, organizational development, consumer advocacy, and public relations. An advanced degree in a human services or management field is preferred.
